Imam Abu Ubaid's approach towards declaring the preferred one amongst the Jurisprudential rulings in Kitab “Al-Amwal”

Imam Abu Ubaid was one of the greatest/renowned jurist and Imam of his time in the field of Islamic Fiqh. He has written multiple books on various subjects of Islamic Fiqh. Among them, Al-Amwal stands on a higher rank among scholars. In this book, Imam Abu Ubaid argues from the different sources like the Quran, Sunnah, Sirat and various historical incidents. He sometimes develops his own opinion, disagreeing from his contemporary and early scholars by building strong premises over a certain matter. He also adds the opinions of other jurists to analyze the rulings comprehensively and prefers some of them on the bases of arguments and principles. While doing so, he illustrates the reasons behind his preference. This research article focuses on these reasons to evaluate them critically and to spread the sense and taste of jurisprudential arguments among scholars.
